  • Lamb, Y.R. (2011), Stuck in the Hospital:Discharge Delays Leave Some Chronically Ill Patients Waiting Weeks and Months for Long-Term Care. Principal Investigator of a year-long special project examining why uninsured and underinsured patients are hard to place in long-term care. This was one of four projects in a Health Performance Fellowship sponsored by the Association of Health Care Journalists and the Commonwealth Fund. Medical professionals, public officials, fellow journalists and ProPublica have praised Stuck in the Hospital for shedding light on an under-reported topic. It was a finalist in the National Association of Black Journalists’ Salute to Excellence Awards.
  • Lamb, Y.R. (2005-2011). Heart & Soul. Served as editorial director and associate publisher of the leading health magazine for 1.5 million African Americans. Heart & Soul provides public service journalism that is literally a matter of life or death. Black women have the highest mortality rate for breast cancer and account for 68 percent of new HIV/AIDS cases—23 times the rate for white women. The award-winning work has included special reports on multiple sclerosis, mental health, addiction and the state of black girls. Medical professionals consider Heart & Soul an effective tool to educate the public and aid in reversing disparities.
  • Lamb, Y.R. (2001-2004) Forum. Served as editor of the official publication of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators. The quarterly magazine helps mayors, city administrators and other officials better serve the public by highlighting best practices and keeping them abreast of new developments, historical trends and noteworthy individuals.
